Meet Our May Spotlight: Stefani McBratney, M.S. CCC-SLP

blog photo

Our May Spotlight, Stefani McBratney,  is not only a skilled and compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), but one that comes highly praised by the schools that she provides services for. With her background in acute care, she is highly valuable and has a unique experience when working with children with complex diagnoses on her caseload. To quote her school admin, "I've had several teachers and parents request her for the future.”  Internally, Stefani is known as the team member who is always willing to help her fellow DotCom Family members. Let’s get to know Stefani better!

1. What made you want to be become an SLP?

It's funny but I studied theatre in college. I loved having a voice and wanted to find a way to give that to everyone. With my interest in science and my personality type, Speech-Language Pathology seemed like the perfect fit!

2. What made you join the DCT team?

Initially it was the flexibility. As a single mom I can be available for my children. I then found the company supported me as a person not just a "therapist.”  My experience was in the acute care setting. I was apprehensive to try school-based therapy. During my initial interview, Elise said "I have a feeling about you. You're perfect for us.” That is how I'm made to feel at DCT, "perfect for them" even on days when I'm not.

3. What has been your favorite thing about teletherapy?

I love the challenge. The caseload, the technology, it's all exciting! I feel stretched and empowered every day. The relationships I have developed are priceless, both professionally and personally. I value my students and they give me air high fives/knuckles until I feel I'll burst. The reality that I make a difference for others in my life-I couldn't want for more than that.

4. When I'm not working, you'll most likely find me:

Being Mom. The greatest privilege of my life. I enjoy time with Hudson and Lila and continue to try and find ways to surprise them. I love to read, travel, garden, coach soccer and challenge myself in new ways. I never want to stop learning about... everything!  I have been blessed with amazing friends and family and hope I show them how much I value them. Finally, I'm working on brewing the BEST stovetop espresso ever!

Thank you, Stefani, for the services you provide DotCom Therapy.  We appreciate all that you do!
